Pimpama North State Primary School, Gold Coast

Designed in conjunction with contractor FK Gardener and Sons, the new $60 million Pimpama North Primary School will be one of five state schools on track to open in term 1, 2021.

Accommodating more than 600 students in the first stage, the school includes admin and corporate services facilities, prep and junior learning centres, a specialist STEM and music centre, a central covered area, library, canteen, sports oval and a multi-purpose hall.

The main entry and central spine of the school has been redesigned to mimic the canopy of a large fig tree, helping to humanise the environment and create a central feature that assists with wayfinding and helps students to feel welcomed and comfortable in what can be a hostile or intimidating environment.

“Pimpama is a fast-growing area on the northern end of the Gold Coast and this new school will be a very welcome addition to the local community,” Ms Grace said at the sod turning ceremony in February 2020
