Open Architecture Studio is working with Wiley on the Red Hill Special School campus amalgamation project, transforming three existing buildings into a unified, purpose-built special education campus. The project consolidates the school's operations from two separate campuses into one cohesive environment serving students from birth to Year 12.

The redesigned campus features general learning areas, flexible spaces, outdoor learning and play zones, a library, multipurpose hall, staff facilities, and hospitality training rooms. Each general learning area is designed as an intimate space with low occupancy and high staff-to-student ratios, complemented by adjoining retreat spaces for individual regulation and calm.

Central to the design is the creation of diverse learning settings that respond to varied physical, cognitive, and sensory needs. Acoustic treatment maintains calm, manageable environments, while tactile softness along circulation zones provides sensory comfort. Multiple indoor and outdoor learning and play spaces accommodate specialized activities and equipment, fostering both individual growth and community connection.

By consolidating resources and expertise in one location, the project enables more effective learning activities and stronger cohesion between different age groups.
