Jason Leslie, Otium Sport & Leisure

Open Architecture Studio was engaged as part of a multi-disciplinary team led by Otium Sport & Leisure to master plan a 100ha sports precinct for Toowoomba Regional Council.

The new precinct will offer a wide range of sports and leisure activities for all members of the community. Sporting codes include athletics, swimming, rugby union and league, football, archery, shooting, AFL and cricket. Extensive parklands will support adventure activities, a skate park and cycling.

Open Architecture Studio collaborated on the master plan and led the design of six clubhouse types, a licensed Premier Hub, two Premier Fields, and an indoor leisure centre with swimming pools, climbing walls, treatment studios and indoor courts.

Project benefits

The precinct will add significant amenity to the Toowoomba and the Darling Downs Region, servicing local and regional sporting needs and attracting major sporting and cultural events that will deliver social and economic benefits to the region.
